'Moving to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches...' This song from the mid 90's (yes, I am OLD) has been haunting me for DAYS. Why I hear you ask? We are contemplating a move to the country. Not like, the suburban style lifestyle block ten minutes from cafes and bars type country, but PROPER country. With a water tank and everything. And a goose. We've found a property we like, with a house that needs a bit of work but it essentially sound, small paddocks for a few sheep, goats, chickens and pigs, a plantation of fir trees and a couple of big grassy knolls..and the scenery. Oh the scenery. In a beautiful valley with trees as far as the eye can see.
Obviously there are pros and cons. Number 1 pro being I can wear cute checked shirts, skinny jeans and stylie gumboot-style boots without looking like a hick. Ooooo and arran jerseys! Lovely. Seriously though, there are lots of pros. *BHD and I have been talking about living in the country for years and now it could be a reality. *It would be a fab place for Miggy (and any future Miggy's) to grow up. *It would be challenging and something completely different (yep, I reckon that's a pro). *We Could have CHICKENS! And a GOAT! *Financially it would mean we'd be almost mortgage free. Wow.
And cons. *It's about 45 minutes drive from the city we currently live in and all of our friends - would we feel isolated? It is actually the only con I can think of at the moment, but it's a pretty big one. Hmmmmm. oh, and I guess we'd have to check out all the facilities in the closest town to make sure we could get, you know, doughnuts and arran jerseys on a regular basis.
Stay tuned....

I love dogs. I love the countryside. I love folk art. All these things are bound together in the glorious visions that are Anna Pugh's paintings. Did I mention I love dogs? I wonder if I could commission a painting of Stanley B. Furchild? Hmmmm.....
I'm also quite fond of an American folk artist called Grandma Moses. (Bottom three images. Must learn how to layout Blog better - any tips?). She didn't start painting until she was in her 70's - go lady! I love the simplicity of her work - kind of childlike. And just plain pretty.
